As mentioned above, the relationship between airports and airlines, unlike the quality of mercy, can be strained. We saw that at the annual ACI Airport Economics and Finance conference in London at the end of February. It is possible to argue that, in fact, if you listen to the two sides, they frequently verge on screaming agreement. But it is true that it is where they do not agree, screaming is likely to happen.

Following the Commission´s musical chairs last autumn, there´s a new Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport for the business aviation sector to impress this year. To have the sector´s purpose easily recognised as providing mobility and transport may not seem like an ambitious message to communicate. But in reality it will prove to be as tough a task as ever to distil business aviation as a connectivity tool from its better-known reputation as a luxury for the very rich.
