Alliances and competition law – time to get serious

Most school students seem to spend inordinate amounts of time studying the causes of World War One, even doing desk-top simulations of the political situation by playing board games such as Diplomacy. What this teaches is that alliances need to be formed, but that they are tricky things and can have some difficult outcomes.

Airport Competition – now we get some real data

Economics is not called the dismal science for nothing. Normally, economists have to theorise about why humans will disappoint – selecting the least healthy, most destructive option, following the devices and desires of their hearts and not their head. Although he used the all manner of communications technology when he was president, Clinton said, ‘I still never thought it didn’t matter if I went places or if my representatives went for me.’
